MEP Systems Site Surveyor

Minneapolis, MN

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

National engineering firm seeking individual or small firm as an independent contractor/site surveyor to survey and document existing condition MEP drawings and gather as-built documentation in an appropriate format for commercial and retail buildings. The Site Surveyor will work with our team for project assignments, schedule, and general requirements. Candidate will be trained on Dunham’s survey standards, as required.  Candidate can be located anywhere in the U.S.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct building surveys to document existing MEP condition and gather relevant information
  • Typical building size is 10,000 – 40,000 square feet
  • Produce project-specific as-built drawings either in AutoCAD format or hand drawn
  • Proficient in identification and documentation of typical commercial mechanical, electric and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read construction documents.
  • Provide quality deliverables (survey data) in the format identified by project lead
  • Ability to follow directions, understand project scope, maintain project schedule and complete designated work on time and within budget established
  • Flexible schedule required for project duration
  • Ability to travel extensively within the U.S. and Canada
  • Frequent flyer miles accrued will stay with individual

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attend Dunham provided training as scheduled
  • College degree (BSME or BSEE) or Technical School degree in mechanical or electrical systems design or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Site survey or construction field experience required (existing condition documentation, punch list preparation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with basic construction knowledge, architectural and MEP trades
  • Must invest in your own field survey equipment, i.e. laser measuring device, tape measure, laptop computer with internet connectivity, AutoCAD compatible software (optional), and digital camera with minimum 10 mp resolution.
  • Must have cell phone
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must have strong work ethic, be diligent, and self-motivated
  • Must provide proof of auto insurance
  • Valid driver’s license required and clean driving record
  • Have or able to obtain a valid Passport and ability to enter Canada
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and access roofs or other high areas to gather appropriate MEP information

COMPENSATION

  • Flat fee, based on specific project complexity and size
  • Airfare, hotel, car rental, meals and parking expenses will be reimbursed
