Dunham provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for a new 377,000 SF outpatient specialty center adjacent to Hennepin Healthcare Medical Center. This state‑of-the-art healthcare facility centrally locates outpatient services previously housed throughout the Hennepin Healthcare campus. These services include primary care clinics, specialty clinics, a large cancer center with radiation therapy, and an outpatient surgery center with seven operating rooms and 4 GI/endoscopy rooms. A dental + oral surgery clinic with 26 suites provides preventative dental care, specialty care, adult and pediatric care under general anesthesia, and oral surgery. The facility also contains a helipad, two levels of underground parking with 260 stalls, and a skyway and tunnel connection to the hospital. Prior to design, our team developed a new master facility plan to address hospital and clinic space reorganization across the downtown campus.

Our services included the complete low voltage system design, including telecom, data, fire alarm, security, nurse call, interface with physiological monitoring, wireless access systems (WAS), interface with Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), paging, intercom, TV, Security, and Video Surveillance. The central network interfaced with campus systems that were extended into the new facility. The extension included redundant 48 strand OS1 Single mode fiber backbone to our building central system as well as 24 strand OS1 Single mode fully redundant riser system within the building. Other network systems included redundant six‑strand OM3 multi-mode fiber, a 25‑pair Category 3 riser, as well as fire alarm, security, paging, TV, and more.
