This project demolished, renovated, and expanded the school to create classrooms, laboratory space, a truck driving range, and new accessible rear entry. The project centrally located its transportation career fields under one roof and included diesel, automotive services, automotive technologies, welding, robotics, solar installer, truck driving, and collision repair.
The project made a more modern learning environment and relocated the truck driving program from Austin to Albert Lea. The new diesel shop has space for farm equipment and larger vehicles in the shop through a 30’-wide door. A truck driving range allows for mutual work between the diesel and truck driving programs. The automotive program added angled parking, a new alignment machine, and seven vehicle lifts.
Dunham provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the renovation and addition that totaled approximately 48,000 SF of program space. A small portion of the building renovation and expansion included a two-story in-fill space for additional support space. Low voltage system design included smart classroom wiring with voice/data, security, cameras, network cabling, and fire alarm.
