The V3 Center

This multi-phased project expands the Near North’s neighborhood access to health, wellness, and water safety. Dunham provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the first of a multi-phase project to create a new 40,000 SF athletic and community center. The project includes a new 25‑yard, five‑lane teaching pool, and a hydrotherapy pool. The project also includes a 5,500 SF 2nd floor fitness area, cafe, and classrooms. A Soul Bowl on the main level provides a healthy food option for patrons and visitors. Upon completion, the team moved directly into a second phase that adds an Olympic-sized, 50-meter pool, gymnasium, and parking structure. The competition pool was used for the 2021 U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sustainability features include a high-performance building envelope for energy savings and a massive cistern for advanced stormwater management. For the five-lane pool, V3 Sports invested in regenerative media filters that provide cleaner water than traditional sand filters do. Cleaner water also requires less chlorine.
