Best Buy Stores
Dunham was brought in to create a new Best Buy Prototype with energy savings, cost savings, scalability and sustainability as the main goals. Energy models were run on multiple mechanical, electrical and architectural designs to determine the best combination of strategies. Compared with previous prototypes, energy efficiency was increased by over 30% with minimal impact on first cost that resulted in a six month payback. The redesigned prototype met all the client’s goals and is being used for new and remodeled stores today.
Dunham continues to be the prototype engineers and the preferred consultant for all new store roll-outs and open store remodels.
Our team developed the Pacific Sales and Magnolia Design Center store within a store (SWAS) concepts currently being implemented in the Best Buy stores. Our services also include the development of vendor pads for specific product providers such as Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, and others. These pads allow for unique concepts and vendor branding throughout the sales floor.
Dunham has designed over 300 Best Buy stores in the past ten years. This includes remodels, conversions, new construction, and fit-ups.
Best Buy Mobile
Dunham was asked to develop a prototype for the new concept smaller retail store which focuses on cellular phone sales. These stores are mainly in malls and strip centers and are construction cost sensitive. There was a high priority to reuse existing conditions as much as possible while maintaining their unique identity. Dunham’s team has designed over 300 of the Best Buy Mobile stores.
Best Buy Store Commissioning
Dunham has provided LEED fundamental (EA p1) commissioning and retrocommissioning services for Best Buy stores throughout the country. Commissioning services included design reviews for new construction and renovations, on-site and remote observation, and functional performance testing. The commissioned systems include the packaged rooftop units and zone boxes as well as the sophisticated interior lighting control system.
