Energy Services
Dunham uses advanced tools to evaluate design alternatives and support sustainable certification requirements. We develop simulations to predict annual energy consumption, optimize building geometry, lighting, and ensure maximum efficiency of mechanical systems.
Leading the way in energy
We offer our clients energy modeling services to evaluate the energy impacts of various design alternatives and document performance compared to a defined baseline, such as required by the LEED® Green Building Rating System™. To deliver these services, we utilize the DOE-2.2 based eQUEST energy modeling software and DOE-2.2 as a stand-alone energy simulation engine. These programs perform hourly simulations to predict annual energy consumption from the model’s inputs of building geometry, construction, lighting loads, people, equipment, processes, mechanical systems and parameters, controls, utility rate information, and local climate data.
We understand LEED analysis and submission documentation, including the New Construction program’s reference of Appendix G as the energy modeling protocol for the Optimize Energy Performance Credit under the Energy & Atmosphere category.
With these sophisticated tools and our depth of staff experience in energy modeling and engineering design, we can analyze envelope, lighting, and mechanical system alternatives, including such advanced measures as thermal displacement ventilation and geothermal heat pumps at various design stages. As design engineers, we can leverage available interfaces with CAD, load calculation software, and other design programs to improve our process efficiency.
Our Services Include:
